The Antelope Valley Transit Authority (AVTA) has been the premier public transit provider in the Antelope Valley for almost 25 years, and is committed to safety, courtesy, quality, efficiency and innovation. AVTA operates a network of 13 local routes, serving the communities of Lancaster, Palmdale, Littlerock, Pearblossom and Lake Los Angeles. AVTA also has three commuter routes to Downtown Los Angeles, West Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley, providing residents with an alternative to driving the heavily congested 14 freeway. The North County TRANSporter, a midday service that connects Antelope Valley residents to the Santa Clarita Valley and McBean Regional Transit Center, serves as a bus bridge for Metrolink passengers. Dial-A-Ride is a curb-to-curb van service for passengers who are disabled or over the age of 65. AVTA will soon become the nation’s first fully electric public transit fleet, showing great environmental and innovative leadership in the transit industry. Its vision of "100% Green by 2018" includes a total conversion of its diesel fleet to all-electric zero-emission buses, with a cost savings of over $2.4 million annually on fuel and maintenance.
